KENTUCKY - Marco Allen Chapman, convicted of the murders of two children in Gallatin County in 2002, could be executed four weeks from today under an order issued by the Kentucky Supreme Court yesterday. Chapman, 36, pleaded guilty, sought the death sentence and has since pressed for appeals on his behalf to be dropped and the sentence to be carried out. The Kentucky Supreme Court yesterday threw out a request to reconsider the Chapman case and directed the court's clerk to issue a mandate to the governor and warden of the Kentucky State Penitentiary to carry out the execution on Nov. 21. John Palombi, a former assistant state public advocate who early in the case was assigned to represent Chapman, said he could not speculate on the chances the date could be delayed. Read more.
