| Center gets new bridge |

WEST VIRGINA - A new bridge and entrance road to the Bland Correctional Center have eliminated a public safety concern. The recently completed project ensures access to the center in case of flooding and better bears the weight of large delivery trucks. “It was a safety issue first and foremost,” noted Charlotte Sacre, a representative of Thomas & Litton, the engineering firm that contracted with the Virginia Department of Corrections to build the bridge and entrance. “There was the issue of the center getting cut off if the bridge flooded or collapsed.” Read more.
