Filling temporary jobs a challenge

TEXAS - Randall County leaders have approved a contract that will obligate them to fill vacancies at the Amarillo City Jail for about 18 months. City and county leaders say the move will ease the transition period as the city prepares to close down its jail. Randall County has a contract with the city to house its inmates as soon as an addition to the county jail is completed. That could take 18 months.

City leaders informed county officials they were having a difficult time filling job vacancies at Amarillo's jail. Potential employees were concerned about job security after learning the city jail would be closing, Sheriff Joel Richardson said. Read more.
