| Offenders consider suit over lost file |

AUCKLAND, NEW ZEALAND - The number of offenders considering taking legal action against the Department of Corrections over a file found outside an Auckland court earlier this year is now about 40. The file, entitled "High Risk/High Profile Offenders -- Pending New Zealand Parole Board Hearing", was found outside the High Court at Auckland in June, after being lost by a Corrections employee. The file included personal details, addresses offenders are to be or have been paroled to, and issues tagged as potential problems. As of July, at least six inmates wanted Corrections to pay tens of thousands of dollars in compensation. Today, lawyer Chris Tennet said he had been contacted by 56 offenders about the list.
