| Jail keeps all beds despite budget cuts |

MICHIGAN - Livingston County Jail will keep all its 254-beds open under a proposed contract approved Wednesday. Sheriff Bob Bezotte said this morning that his department’s $15 million budget has been cut by nearly $1.5 million, which comes in the form of lay-offs and buyouts. Four of the nine employees eligible accepted the buyout deal, which provides 2 percent of their base salary times the years of service. The department has laid off three non-union employees as well as one deputy and one corrections officer. In addition, four vacant deputy seats will not be filled.
