| Juvenile court to be pilot site |

OHIO - Sandusky County Juvenile Court Judge Brad Culbert is pleased to announce that the juvenile court will be a pilot site for the Statewide Youth Assessment Project. The Department of Youth Services and the University of Cincinnati have been working together to develop assessment tools developed specifically for Ohio youths; however, they can potentially be used as model assessments across the country. DYS was awarded a $300,000 grant from the Federal Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention to help fund the project. After several years of researching randomly selected youth from Sandusky County and 22 other counties in Ohio, DYS and the University of Cincinnati have developed an assessment tool that will be used following an adjudication that a child is a delinquent or unruly child but prior to the disposition, or sentencing.
