Slain officer not wearing alarm
By The Associated Press
Published: 11/07/2008

FLORIDA - An investigation into the killing of a corrections officer in Daytona Beach found the officer wasn't wearing a body alarm or carrying a radio when she died. It is unclear why Officer Donna Fitzgerald was without the security measures when she killed at the Tomoka Correctional Institution in June. She had been supervising inmates in a work program.

Enoch Hall, 39, has been charged in Fitzgerald's death. Hall, who was already serving two life terms for sexual battery and kidnapping, has pleaded not guilty. Prior to Fitzgerald's slaying, the last time a Florida corrections officer was killed was June 2003.
