| Obama team plans Gitmo transfers |

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The AP reports today that President-elect Obama’s transition team is planning to transfer many of the prisoners at Guantanamo Bay to U.S. prisons. Some prisoners would be released, some would be given regular criminal trials in U.S. courts and others might face a new national-security court that the Obama administration would create. Obama’s team is responding to the many calls to close the notorious Guantanamo Bay detention facility and to end the controversial Military Commissions. The ACLU and many U.S. lawyers have protested the commissions don’t provide minimal due process rights to suspected terrorists. Read more.
