ALABAMA - New allegations in a federal lawsuit accuse the state of punishing a retired Army colonel for being a whistleblower" because he reported mistreatment of inmates at Limestone Correctional Facility. Dr. Larry Camp, a dentist, and Sabrina Martindale, a dental technician, both from Huntsville, were fired in early 2004 after they complained about the "delivery of unnecessarily brutal and painful dentistry" on inmates by Dr. Michael West, their supervisor. The two are seeking compensatory and punitive damages from Correctional Medical Services Inc.; state prison Commissioner Richard Allen; Ruth Naglich, the Corrections Department's associate commissioner of health services; and Laura Ferrell, the department's medical systems administrator.
