| Undersheriff to stay on another year |

MICHIGAN - Mason County Sheriff-elect Jeff Fiers announced today Tom Trenner, the current Mason County undersheriff, has agreed to continue his duties at the Mason County Sheriff’s Office in 2009. “He’s the most qualified, and he’s a good hard worker. I respect that in him, and we’ll work very well together,” Fiers said of Trenner. Fiers said his choice all along for undersheriff has been Trenner, but he didn’t talk to him until after the election. “He needed to be 100 percent dedicated to (outgoing Sheriff) Laude (Hartrum), and I just wasn’t going to put him in that predicament,” Fiers said.
