VERMONT - Rob Hofmann, who has run the state Corrections Department for nearly four years, has been promoted to replace his boss as Agency of Human Services secretary. Secretary Cynthia LaWare, who has overseen the agency for almost three years, is stepping down and said she is considering other jobs inside and outside of state government. "It's time for a change," LaWare said Wednesday. The change is one among several that Gov. Jim Douglas has made since winning re-election to a fourth term last week, including a change at the helm of the Agency of Natural Resources. Spokesman Jason Gibbs said a new economic development commissioner will be named this week to replace Mike Quinn, who is leaving state government. Read more.
