| Chief stands by town for new headquarters |

COLORADO - The executive director of the Colorado Department of Corrections is sticking to his decision to award a contract for a new headquarters building in Colorado Springs. In a letter to The Pueblo Chieftain, DOC head Ari Zavaras said he was pleased with a selection process the department used that favored the Colorado Springs site over four others, including ones in Pueblo and Canon City. "My decision has not changed," Zavaras wrote. "The Colorado Springs site is the best overall offer, meets the business needs of the department, and is cost effective.
