MISSOURI - An inmate at the St. Louis City Justice Center climbed into an off-limits section of the jail and is holding off correction officers while refusing to come out, officials said. Jail officials called police and fire fighters for help about 2:15 p.m. today at the corrections center, located at Tucker Boulevard and Clark Street downtown.

Police said the inmate cannot escape from his location, which they could not describe in more detail. He does not have a hostage, officials said. The man, who is a Russian immigrant, asked for an interpreter and his attorney. Both arrived at the jail, but the man has still not surrendered, police said.
