| Ground water contamination discussed |

WASHINGTON - A community meeting to discuss chemical contamination in ground water near the Washington State Penitentiary at Walla Walla is planned from 7 to 9 p.m. Nov 19. Washington Department of Ecology staff will meet with Walla Walla residents to talk about investigating contamination at the prison. “We’ve come to an agreement on how to proceed with what we know is there and do the cleanup,” said Seth Preston, spokesman for Ecology in Olympia. Ecology plans to enter into an agreed order with the Washington Department of Corrections to conduct a remedial investigation and feasibility study at the prison, 1313 N. 13th St. Read more.
