INDIANA - County officials have high hopes for the new Community Corrections facility slated to open in July, estimating it could save taxpayers about $8 million a year. The $16 million facility, located on the Sheriff's Department campus on Cumberland Road, is about 70 percent completed and will hold about 200 nonviolent offenders at peak capacity, according to Executive Director Ralph Watson. That includes an undetermined number of beds dedicated to an intensive drug and alcohol rehabilitation program. The current Community Corrections facility holds about 75 inmates at a time. Read more.
