| Report offers details about prison hospital |

CALIFORNIA - Federal Receiver J. Clark Kelso released a facility program statement on Tuesday, a report that detailed the basic design of seven potential prison hospitals. If a 1,300-to-1,800-bed prison for male inmates is built at the current site of the Ventura Youth Correctional Facility on Wright Road, prisoners will have such amenities as a library, a multipurpose room for religious services and outdoor recreation areas. Kelso is trying to improve healthcare for inmates up to constitutional standards by building seven prisons at a cost of $8 billion. According to the report, the proposed new facilities "will be unlike any correctional facility currently found" in the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. Read more.
