ILLINOIS - A drywall ceiling collapsed in a minimum security wing at the Thomson Correctional Center. Illinois Corrections Department spokesman Derek Schnapp says the wing's 39 inmates were evacuated just before the collapse Monday because an inmate reported hearing strange noises coming from the ceiling. Nobody was hurt. Thomson is where Gov. Rod Blagojevich wants to move prisoners now housed at Pontiac Correctional Center. The governor wants to close Pontiac to save money, but the state's largest employees union opposes that move. Read more.
