TEXAS - Texas officials plan to test cell phone jamming technology after a prison system lockdown and search turned up hundreds of smuggled mobile devices. The test has been proposed for Dec. 18 at the Travis County state jail in Austin, the Austin American-Stateman reported in Wednesday editions. House Corrections Committee Chairman Jerry Madden said he requested the test. Officials at the Texas Department of Criminal Justice were working to set up the demonstration, said agency spokeswoman Michelle Lyons. Florida-based CellAntenna Corp., which recently conducted a similar test in South Carolina, has agreed to do the Texas demonstration, said company spokeswoman Priscilla Doyle. Read more.
