| Letter blames officers for beating |

ALABAMA - A Huntsville attorney today described a letter from an inmate who said he witnessed the fatal beating of Farron Barksdale by a group of prison [officers] as "disturbing" and "shocking." "It goes to what we've been saying all along in the open records lawsuit," said attorney Jake Watson. "It's an important document. That's a disturbing letter." The Oct. 24 letter written by an inmate to Montgomery County Circuit Judge Eugene Reese claims that several correctional officers, who he described as "a pack of jackels (sic)," beat Barksdale.
