GEORGIA - The Georgia Department of Corrections is closing the 250-bed Milan State Prison in Helena, according to an announcement today. The prison will cease operations on Friday and inmates will be transferred to other facilities across the state, according to a news release. The prison’s 55 employees are being offered positions within the Department of Corrections, according to the release. Read more.
