| Prison closing worsens economic woes |

ILLINOIS - The village administrator of Dwight said today that the economic woes of the nation are hitting smaller communities in a big way, including his. “We knew we would have an impact from the losing of Pontiac Correctional Center. We felt it would be losing our residents who work at Pontiac,” said Kevin McNamara. “We, however, learned that the way the Department of Corrections set up future job placement for PCC officers could affect our community in another way. It could also displace some of our residents, who work for Dwight Correctional Center, because they could be forced out by PCC employees with more seniority.” McNamara said he has been told that arbitration, ordered by the courts, may force PCC employee placement to change and the possible effect on DCC is not known at this time.
