| New system tracks probation violators |

NORTH CAROLINA - Big changes are coming at the N.C. Department of Corrections; changes that should make it safer for the public. That's because a new system will allow probation officers to better track offenders and their criminal activities. The system is the outgrowth of a pair of high profile murders that were allegedly committed by offenders who were out on probation. The murders of Duke University student Abjihdt Mohato and UNC student body president Eve Carson brought to light major problems within the probation department. Read more.
