MISSOURI - Corrections officers at the St. Charles County Jail voted to be represented by a union. Bill Stark, business manager for Laborers' International Union of North America Local 1032, said there were 87 employees eligible to vote. Fifty-four voted, he said, and the union prevailed 46-8. It will represent officers below the rank of sergeant. The next step is to survey employees and form a negotiating team, Stark said. He said he had not heard complaints about pay. The major concerns for employees are discipline issues and health insurance, he said. Government employees do not have the right to strike in Missouri. |
