A former female officer at the Platte Valley Youth Center in Greeley, Colo., is on trial for sexually assaulting a male inmate. The alleged victim, now 20, testified last Tuesday that he was sexually assaulted several times by Brenda Baker in September and October 2000, but he couldn't remember much of what occurred. Baker is on trial for sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust. The man said during one incident, Baker accosted him in a bathroom when he was 16 and rubbed his penis. He testified they met in a cleaning closet or linen closet in the section of the youth center he was assigned to, sometimes while other juvenile inmates were in lockdown. Baker's defense attorney said he will prove the alleged victim lied about the incidents and that the encounters couldn't have happened the way they were described. |
