OREGON - Marion County - Sheriff's deputies are doing their part to spread the Christmas spirit this year by donating Christmas trees to families that might not otherwise get one. Three Marion County Sheriff's deputies rounded up 50 trees used at the Salem Armory from a Christmas show last weekend and donated them through Marion County Parole and Probation. Deputies took crews from the jail's work center to pick up the trees and donate them to Marion-Polk Food Share and parole and probation Thursday.

Also last weekend, deputy Heath Nelson took five students at Chemawa Indian School and a flatbed truck loaded with 10 Christmas trees to give to families in the community. The families responded thankfully for the free trees and carolers, Nelson said.
