OREGON - Christopher Hoover, a new employee of the Clatsop County Community Corrections Department, was named the winner of the Victor G. Atiyeh Outstanding Student Award at the Basic Parole and Probation Class he attended in October and November at the Department of Public Safety Standards and Training at the DPSST Academy in Salem. The award is given to the student who, by personal example during their Academy tenure, earned the professional respect of staff, students and instructors through group leadership, motivation and encouragement; distinguished academic achievement; a commitment to wellness; exemplary personal appearance; and an outstanding demeanor. Selected by DPSST staff, instructors and fellow students, the award is the highest honor a student can receive from the department. Hoover was hired by the Community Development Department in March.
