| Hostage situation ends safely |

SOUTH CAROLINA - According to officials with the Department of Corrections, an inmate took a corrections employee hostage at the Lee Correctional Institution. Josh Gelinas with the Corrections Department says the situation started around 2:30pm Monday when inmate Tony Mack barricaded himself and an employee inside a room within the prison. Gelinas says the inmate spoke with hostage negotiators and surrendered around 4:30pm. He says the employee is being looked at by medical personnel, but appears to be unharmed. As for Mack, he will be transferred to another maximum security prison where he'll be confined to isolation.
