VERMONT - Andrew Pallito has been named commissioner of the Vermont Department of Corrections. Gov. Jim Douglas announced the appointment Wednesday, calling Pallito a reliable leader who’s well-versed in the issues facing Vermont’s prison system. Pallito succeeds former Commissioner Rob Hofmann, who was recently named secretary of the state Agency of Human Services. A 16-year state employee, Pallito joined the Department of Corrections in 2001, became deputy commissioner in 2006 and was named interim commissioner when Hofmann left. |
