NEW JERSEY - A Madison company is protesting its loss of a contract to provide meals to prisoners in Monmouth County despite submitting a bid $450,000 lower than the winning $3 million bid, according to a report in the Asbury Park Press. The report said Gourmet Dining LLC of Madison lost out on a three-year contract to deliver food for the county Department of Corrections and Youth Services. County officials said the company didn't qualify because it lacks sufficient recent correctional food service experience, but company officials have protested, saying Gourmet Dining held a similar contract with Essex County from 1991 to 2004. Gourmet Dining will ask the courts to overturn the awarding of the contract to Aramark Correctional Services of Philadelphia. |
