VERMONT - An inmate at Northern State Correctional Facility in Newport will get more time behind bars after pleading no contest to a charge he tried to hire someone to throw lye on his ex-girlfriend. Forty-4-year-old Scott Weller, of Colchester, was sentenced Wednesday to three months to three years in addition to the 11-year term he's already serving for violating an abuse prevention order. Last year, Weller allegedly tried to hire another inmate to throw lye on the arms, face and legs of his ex-girlfriend after the other inmate was released from prison. Police say corrections officers collected letters and copies of telephone conversations in which Weller discussed his plans. |
