| Officials: Staff followed proper procedures |

WISCONSIN - Staff at Wisconsin’s primary intake facility for convicted prisoners followed proper procedures in monitoring a Grant native who apparently strangled himself with a bed sheet last Saturday night, according to corrections officials. Adam Peterson, a 2006 Stillwater Area High School graduate, was an inmate at Dodge Correctional Institution (DCI), in Waupun. Last month, he pleaded guilty to murdering Madison, Wis., resident Joel Marino last January, and was serving a mandatory life sentence with possibility of parole after 20 years. Peterson’s cellmate awoke shortly before 10 p.m. to discover Peterson hanging from an upper railing of their bunk bed, having apparently tied one end of a bed sheet around his neck and the other end to the railing of the bed. Jail staff attempted to revive the 20-year-old Peterson until paramedics arrived. However, he was pronounced dead with a half hour. Last September, Peterson attempted to hang himself at Dane County Jail while awaiting trial. He was kept on suicide watch at that facility. He was not on suicide watch at the time of his death.
