OHIO - Corrections officers at the Butler County Sheriff's office voted to change their union contract to save the county money. Sheriff Richard Jones announced two weeks ago that corrections officers would go to 12-hour shifts for better coverage with less overtime. However, that created four hours of overtime for every employee every two weeks. The corrections officers agreed to forego the overtime for those four hours and take regular pay instead. Sergeant Diana Dunn said, "We're saving some jobs. We've got bills to pay, families to feed. You do what you gotta do." The sheriff said this will save the county about $150,000. That's close to the cost of three employees. |
