| Community Corrections needs new director |

INDIANA - For now, the Clay County Community Corrections organization is leaderless. Due to unknown reasons, the organization's former executive director, John Tabasco, stepped down from his post effective Jan. 8. "At the moment, the executive board is handling questions and concerns for the agency," Board Chairperson Lea Ann Thomas told The Brazil Times. Thomas said plans have been made for the executive board to meet by the end of the month to go over policies that need to be changed. Some of the policies the board plans to discuss include qualifications needed to serve as executive director. Thomas said the organization was originally part of Phoenix Community Corrections, in conjunction with Putnam County. However, in 2003, the two counties created their own community corrections departments. Since then, Thomas said, some policies have not changed and have become outdated. Read more.
