ARIZONA - Arizona Department of Corrections Director Dora Schriro has announced her resignation and will join former Gov. Janet Napolitano with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Schriro will work at Immigration and Customs Enforcement headquarters in Washington, D.C. She said she'll be a senior adviser to the deputy secretary of Homeland Security but would not divulge specifics about her new position. Napolitano, who stepped down from the Governor's Office last week, is directing the federal agency. Schriro's resignation is effective Saturday, and she begins her new job Monday. I'm looking forward to going and making a terrific difference," Schriro told The Arizona Republic. "Clearly, I'm going to miss 9,700 absolutely fantastic co-workers," she said of departing the state agency she has led since Napolitano took office in 2003. "Arizona has just been a terrific experience." Read more. If link has expired, check the website of the article's original news source. |
