| Sheriff's Office recognized for CPR efforts |

FLORIDA - Several Sheriff’s Office employees were recognized recently for breathing new life into residents across Indian River County. Sheriff Deryl Loar distributed annual and quarterly awards to 20 people earlier this month. What some of the awards had in common is the recipients either performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation on patients or instructed a third person how to conduct the procedure. “Being able to talk someone through CPR is an important part of a communication officer’s abilities,” Loar said. Two public safety dispatchers were recognized for being able to do just that. Last fall, Paul Button talked a 911 caller through CPR on an unconscious 65-year-old Sebastian man, Sheriff’s Office spokesman Deputy Jeff Luther said.
