Ohio sheriff meets with union leaders

OHIO - Hamilton County Sheriff Simon Leis is meeting with representatives of the FOP - Ohio Labor Council to discuss the office's current budget problems. Leaders of the union representing road patrol deputies and corrections officers have indicated the membership may be willing to give up their clothing allowance and perhaps take a 2 percent pay cut. Sheriff Leis says if that can be worked out, it might save the jobs of six or seven deputies.

Dave Stanley of the FOP - Ohio Labor Council added another issue to be addressed is whether cuts in the administrative staff have been made -- especially in what he called "double-dippers." Those are people who have retired from one governmental agency to collect their pension and then are hired by another.
