| Sheriff's partnership helps town |

MASSACHUSETTS - As the town struggles with budget woes and cutbacks in state aid, any help from other sources is a welcome relief. An unofficial alliance with the Norfolk County Sheriff’s Department has done just that. “The town and my office have forged an extraordinarily strong relationship because of the numerous partnerships we’ve established,” Sheriff Michael Bellotti said. “We believe this relationship will provide benefits to the citizens for many years to come.” County jail inmates participating in a supervised volunteer program helped build offices at the town hall and painted the gym at Braintree High School. The work crews also reconditioned ballfields and painted dugouts. In all, the sheriff’s department was responsible for more than 4,000 hours of community service in Braintree last year.
