KANSAS - The Department of Corrections is suspending five facility- and community-based offender programs to cut spending in the current budget. Secretary of Corrections Roger Werholtz said Thursday the programs being discontinued are the Norton Correctional Facility Sex Offender Treatment Program; Lansing Correctional Facility-South Unit substance abuse therapeutic community in Osawatomie; Salvation Army Shield of Service House in Kansas City; Topeka Mirror Inc. community residential beds; and Wichita Mirror Inc. community residential beds. Werholtz said suspending the programs on April 1 will save about $640,000 in the current budget. |
