TENNESSEE - Madison County officials said on Monday they would look at improving security and procedures at the juvenile detention center after a weekend escape attempt - the second in the past month - where two staff members were attacked. But Juvenile Court Judge Christy Little also said she is concerned that hardened, older teens who have been held at the facility have intensified the problems detention center staff must contend with. Little's comments came after she arraigned a 17-year-old Jackson boy who escaped from the center on Sunday afternoon before being captured by police about six hours later. The boy and two 16-year-olds face escape and other charges, possibly aggravated assault stemming from one staff member who was beaten and suffered a compound fracture near his wrist and another who was choked. One 16-year-old, who pressed a control panel button that opened a door, was captured before leaving the center. The other 16-year-old, who was pepper sprayed and wearing leg irons, was caught within 300 yards of the facility. The boy had been involved in an escape attempt last month, and was being held on charges stemming from robberies at a Hollywood Drive motel and truckstop committed after he fled a Memphis facility.
