| House to end women's program |

MICHIGAN - After three years of financial struggles, the Huron House is shuttering its women's residential program. Bob Diehl, Huron House's executive director, said the program will end March 5. "When we started the program, our expectation was that the men's program would support a moderate deficit in the women's program," he said. But he said that isn't happening since the men's program also is underutilized. The Huron House is a residential alternative to jail or prison. Diehl said judges refer convicts to the program, where they get programming such as substance-abuse treatment and job-seeking services. Read more.
