| Jails face disruption |

Northern Ireland - The running of Northern Ireland’s jails is facing disruption following a withdrawal of goodwill by prison officers. The protest is related to management actions on sick leave and disciplinary action, the Prison Officers Association (POA) said last night. A Prison Service spokeswoman yesterday said: “The Northern Ireland Prison Service can confirm the POA has today taken steps to withdraw goodwill which effectively means ‘a work to rule’. This has resulted in some delays in the operation of the regime.” POA Chairman Finlay Spratt last night denied that a work to rule was under way. “We are working our terms and conditions,” he said.
