| Cunningham tours Pewee Valley prison |

KY - Justice Bill Cunningham toured the Kentucky Correctional Institute for Women in Pewee Valley with Commissioner Ladonna Thompson on Jan. 26. This was the fourth prison Cunningham toured since his election to the State Supreme Court in November 2006. The other prisons Justice Cunningham has visited are the Kentucky State Penitentiary at Eddyville, the West Kentucky Correctional Complex at Fredonia and the Kentucky State Reformatory located in LaGrange. Justice Cunningham was a Circuit Judge for 15 years in the 56th Judicial Circuit, which included Lyon County, home of the Kentucky State Penitentiary and West Kentucky Correctional Complex and had a court room in the prison for many years. Among his accomplishments, Justice Cunningham served as Commonwealth Attorney for the 56th Judicial Circuit, Eddyville City Attorney, and as a public defender. He also served as a hearing officer for the Kentucky Board of Claims and as a trial commissioner. Justice Cunningham is the author of the best-selling book, “Castle,” which tells the story of the history of the Kentucky State Penitentiary in Eddyville. Read more.
