A Shawano County (Wisc.) correctional officer has been charged with delivering contraband items to jail inmates.
Caren A. Spredeman, 25, of Embarrass, is accused of providing tobacco and related items to jail inmates, in violation of jail regulations, according to a criminal complaint.
The charge is a felony. If convicted, Spredeman faces a possible maximum penalty of three and-a-half years in prison and fines totaling $10,000.
She has been placed on administrative leave, said Shawano County Sheriff Bob Schmidt. He said he could offer no comment about the charges against Spredeman other than to say "everything about the case is in the criminal complaint."
