| Corrections Officer Stops Escape Attempt |

WAYMART, WAYNE COUNTY- An alert corrections officer stopped an escape attempt by a prisoner at SCI Waymart Thursday morning. Prison officials say the inmate, who was not named, used a forged pass to try to leave the prison for an outside work detail. An officer recognized the inmate was not approved for the detail was refused to allow him to leave. The inmate was returned to the inner compound then placed in the prison's restrictive housing unit.
