| Reward for escaped Lynchburg inmate |

By Carrie J. Sidener Published: March 18, 2009 A reward is now being offered for information leading to the capture of a man that escaped from the Lynchburg jail last week. The U.S. Marshals Service is offering an unspecified amount of money to anyone that provides information that “ultimately leads to the capture and arrest of Larry Wayne Dodson Jr.,” according to a news release from the law enforcement agency. Dodson escaped from the Blue Ridge Regional Jail facility on March 10 by lowering himself more than 100 feet down the side of the jail using a rope made of tied-together bed sheets. Dodson has ties to people in Pittsylvania County and Roanoke as well as Chowan County, N.C. Authorities believe that Dodson may be in northeastern N.C. after deputies found a car in the Windsor area, about 100 miles east of Raleigh, that had been reported stolen from the Lynchburg area two days after the escape. Investigators also believe that Dodson broke into a house in the Madison Heights area on Kings Road near River Road just after his escape. Court records in Pittsylvania County and Roanoke show Dodson had convictions for car theft, burglary, grand larceny of a firearm, felonious escape, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a weapon by an inmate and property destruction.
