(Concord, NH) The New Hampshire Department of Corrections announces that New Hampshire Correctional Industries (NHCI) will have a booth at the 2009 Made in New Hampshire Try It and Buy It Expo. Now in its fourteenth year, this event highlights the state’s diversity with over one thousand products, ranging from the latest in high technology to fine craftsmanship. This is the fifth year NHCI has participated. NHCI staff will be available during the weekend to answer questions about inmate-made products and to discuss job skills programs offered to offenders. Many opportunities exist for inmates to learn marketable trades such as information technology, printing, furniture construction and upholstery, woodworking, agriculture, and sign making. A few small items will be available for sale. “This is an opportunity to educate and inform the public about Correctional Industries, particularly for those who cannot come inside the prison to see the shops for themselves,” Corrections Commissioner William L. Wrenn said. Approximately 400 inmates participate in NHCI programs each year. The expo will be held at the New Hampshire National Guard Armory in Manchester from Friday March 27-Sunday March 29, 2009. Jeffrey J.
