By Tucker Stephenson The Gazette-Enterprise Published April 2, 2009 According to PAGA member Steve Luna, that’s because families and children always want to as cram as much Easter fun as they can into the holiday weekend. “It’s usually done in about an hour because they’re usually trying to run off to another one,” Luna joked. Luckily, the timing seems perfect, as the Hispanic Chamber’s main event will take place at noon, with plenty of activities and food to be given out to children and parents. “We’re giving out free hot dogs and drinks,” said event chairperson Patty Castillo. “We’re having a cake walk, we’ll have a couple of moon bounces and we’ll have a duck pond game, and the Easter bunny is going to be there. The Easter egg hunt will start right at 12 o’clock, and it will be by age groups, from zero to four and from five to eight, and from 8 to 11.” The PAGA event welcomes ages 10 and under, and also offers the possibility of walking away with a full stomach in addition to a full Easter basket. “All the guys from the Pan American Association usually bring a gift and some of the eggs,” Luna said. ”We donate a lot of the stuff and then we get the community to donate a lot of the stuff also, and that’s what helps us have these functions every year. “We’ve got a bunch of Easter baskets that we’re going to be handing out. We also have as afar as prizes, we have some pizza that is being donated, so we have some meals.” Not to be outdone, the Hispanic Chamber has baskets to be handed out as well — courtesy of the Guadalupe County Community Supervision and Corrections Department.
