| More job cuts likely in New York City |

(CNN) -- New York City's Office of Management and Budget announced Wednesday an additional round of layoffs may be necessary to offset the city's 2010 budget shortfall. In a letter sent to city agency heads, the budget office outlined its plan to save $350 million through 7,000 job cuts in fiscal year 2011. The cuts come in addition to Mayor Michael Bloomberg's announcement in January that more than 9,000 jobs might be cut as part of the preliminary budget for 2010. Bloomberg had no comment about the additional job cuts. In the budget office letter, the agency indicated it has "already curtailed planned spending in FY '10 by 15 percent or $3.1 billion.
