The County Jail is the best run division of the Cuyahoga County Sheriff's Office, interim Sheriff Frank Bova declared Wednesday. He led the media on a 90-minute jail tour and said he is examining all operations in the Sheriff's Office and has not found any problems in the jail. "The operations are efficient," Bova said. "I don't see any problems." Bova became sheriff 12 days ago after Gerald McFaul resigned following three months of stories in The Plain Dealer about questionable fund-raising, promotion, hiring and spending practices under his watch. He is now being investigated by a special prosecutor for possible criminal misconduct. Bova took a leave from his job as Warrensville Heights police chief until the county Democratic Party picks a permanent successor next month to McFaul. Bova said he wanted the public to see inside the jail and dispel any rumors about the facility not being clean or operating efficiently. "It's a new way of doing business," he said. "We don't hide from anything." Dozens of jail employees did double takes when Bova walked the jail's two towers. McFaul hadn't been spotted in the jail for years.
