| State cuts will cost NNY jobs |

ALBANY — The governor's recent call for layoffs of state employees could hit the north country hard. The state Department of Correctional Services is slated to cut its staff by 2,021 employees, according to a list of "workforce reduction plan targets" issued by the governor's office. The department operates several facilities throughout the north country and is one of the region's larger employers. Read more.
